I’ve posted on Andrew Salgado before. He’s the Regina born and raised artist who has been making quite a name for himself since moving to London, England a few years ago and starting to create expressionistic portraits of men that explore the idea of masculinity from his perspective as a young gay male.
Tomorrow, an exhibition of his work opens at the Art Gallery of Regina. It’s Salgado’s first solo show in his hometown, and it will run at the gallery until Nov. 23. The exhibition is called The Acquaintance and it’s apparently inspired by a Sinead O’Connor song called “The Last Day Of Our Acquaintance”. The image depicted above is from the show, by the way.
At some point we’ll have some editorial on the exhibition — either a review, or perhaps an interview with Salgado. Additional events that are happening at the gallery include an artist talk by Salgado on Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m., and a reception Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
