Each year the Regina Symphony Orchestra kicks off its season with a free outdoor concert in Wascana Centre (in the space behind the Royal Saskatchewan Museum). Symphony Under the Sky goes on Aug. 18 this year from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The concert always culminates with a performance by the RSO, but before they take the stage the crowd is entertained by an assortment of other musical groups that span the genres from jazz and blues to country and rock.
The RSO is in the process of selecting acts to participate in Symphony Under the Sky. If you visit this Facebook page you’ll see that 15 bands are still in the running. Once you check them out, you have the option of voting for them by clicking “like” on the photo. Voting has already started, and over the next week additional rounds will be held until the list of bands is winnowed down to four that will be eligible to be added to the program.
So if you plan on attending Symphony Under the Sky, and have a favourite band on the list that you’d like to see play during the day, cast your vote.
