Family(MackenzieGallery)When my family was in town for a visit in early July we stopped by the MacKenzie Art Gallery to check out How We Filled The Vault: Sixty Years of Collecting at the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Featuring 300 plus works from the gallery’s 4000 plus permanent collection (including Joanne Bristol’s Satellite Image, Gopher Hole, North Bank of South Saskatchewan [2001], pictured above) it offers a pretty decent overview of various styles of art that have been en vogue in Saskatchewan and the broader Western art world over the last 60 plus years.

As an added bonus, Greatest Hits: The Juno Tour of Canadian Art is still on display at the gallery.  The former show is on until Sept. 1 while the latter is on until Nov. 24., so next time you’re in the neighbourhood check them out. Oh yeah, and Dimensions, the annual juried exhibition of work by Saskatchewan Craft Council members, is on at the gallery until Aug. 25.
