Born in Barking in county Essex in 1957, Bragg got his start in music during the punk revolution that swept  England in the mid-1970s. Pretty much from the outset he was an advocate for progressive causes, both in the music he wrote and recorded, and in his life outside of music.

In 2012, Bragg released a third album in the Mermaid Avenue  series with the American alt-country band Wilco. The first two albums were released in 1998 and 2000. Tuesday night, as part of the Regina Folk Festival concert series, he’ll be in town to play a show at the Orr Centre (4400 4th Ave.). Kim Churchill is the back-up act, and things should get going around 8 p.m. Tickets are $32 adv. and $40 door.
