ButalaThe 20th annual Saskatchewan Book Awards gala will be held at Conexus Arts Centre on April 27. To help promote the event before the actual hardware (or, at least, prize money) is doled out the SBA hosts several free readings in different parts of the province featuring authors who have been short-listed for awards.

This afternoon at 2 p.m. the MacKenzie Art Gallery is home to one such reading. Hosted by Carol Todd, this event features three nominees for 2013 Saskatchewan Book Awards: Allison Kydd (Emily Via the Greyhound Bus), Heather Smith (Hansen-Ross Pottery: Pioneering Fine Craft) and Garrett Wilson (In the Temple of the Rain God: The Life and Times of “Irish” Charlie Wilson).

You can find out more  about the SBAs and the gala, which this year will feature award-winning Saskatchewan writer and naturalist/conservationist Sharon Butala (pictured) as guest speaker, here.
