Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO has to be an anagram, right? I can’t sit down and reason it out right now — I don’t have that kind of mind and even if I did I’ve simply got other things on the go — but I don’t know how else you explain it.

One option, I suppose, could just be that the Besnard Lakes are weird sorts. The Montreal band, who Regina can lay a small claim on as well, are known for dreamy and loud music with highly-conceptual stories weaved into their lyrics. I’m excited to see what they’re weaving for this new one, an eight-song LP coming out April 2 on Outside Music in Canada.

The press release for it says it’ll feature “Moonface’s Spencer Krug and Mike Bigelow, The Barr Brothers’ Sarah Page, the always-enchanting Monica Guenter and the return of Fifth String Liberation Singers’ Choir”, which is a cool group of people coming into an already cool situation.

You can listen to “People of the Sticks” from Imperceptible UFO above. If the rest of the record is this good, we’re looking at certainly one of the best of 2013.
