Here’s a heads up about a three-day performance festival that is being held in the downtown area Jan. 10-12. It’s an offshoot of the annual film and video festival Queer City Cinema that goes in Regina each June. It features a mix of local, national and international artists, with free and ticketed events happening at Neutral Ground, Knox-Met Church, the Artful Dodger and Artesian on 13th.
One performance that caught my eye when I was perusing the three-day schedule is by London, UK artist Samantha Sweeting (pictured). It’s called The Room Downstairs, and it takes place on a one-on-one basis where you enter a room and sit, then at a prescribed time Sweeting calls you long distance from London on a phone that’s been provided and asks you a series of questions about your childhood.
You can find out more about Performatorium 2013 here. Or wait until Thursday when you’ll be able to read about the festival in the Jan. 10 issue of Prairie Dog.
