This idea was borrowed last year from Saskatoon, where a similar event has been held for five or six years. What it involves is musicians from different local bands coming together to form temporary groups that then draw songs out of a hat and take a day or two to rehearse before they perform cover versions live on stage.
That’s what will be happening tonight at the Exchange at Band Swap II. To learn more about the concept, which gives musicians a chance to meet other members of the community and experiment with different musical styles and combinations of instruments than they typically play with, here’s a link to the cover story on the first Band Swap that James Brotheridge did last December.
Assuming tickets are still available, they are $15 adv., and $20 door, with proceeds going to Carmichael Outreach Centre.
