Most people will probably be chilling Sunday night in preparation for New Year’s Eve on Monday. But tonight there’s several decent musical options to whet your appetite for further festivities to come.

At the Exchange there’s some fine local heavy metal with Dirtbred, Kelevra and In Darkness. At McNally’s Tavern, meanwhile, it’s the ska/reggae/funk stylings of Skavenjah.

Probably the hottest ticket though will be this showcase of artists on the 13th Ave. Records Label. It’s happening at the Artesian on 13th (naturally enough). Doors are at 7 p.m., and tickets are $15. Performing will be the Lazy MKs, Belle Plaine, the Lonesome Weekends, B.D. Willoughby, the Pile of Bones Brass Band and Tim McCashin. And as if that wasn’t enough, the soiree will be hosted by Neil McDonald, who in 2011 was the recipient of the prestigious Best Hippie award in our annual Best of Regina readers’ poll.

Here’s so-so video of the Lonesome Weekends performing their song “Crashin'”:
