Gourmands will be in their glory starting tonight when the RPL Theatre launches a four-night cinematic salute to the art of food. Screening Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 7 and 9 at 9 p.m. is Mid-August Lunch.  It’s a 2008 Italian movie about a single middle-aged man who takes on a care-giver role for his mother and three other elderly ladies. Also screening on those dates at 9 p.m. (Dec. 6) and 7 p.m. (Dec. 7 and 9) is Step Up To The Plate. It’s a 2011 French production about a chef at a three star restaurant who hands over the reins to his son.

On Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. there’s a screening of the 2012 French/Spanish film The Chef. It will be followed by a reception where people will have the opportunity to sample gourmet fare from four local restaurants. Tickets for this special event are $10. For more information call the RPL at 777-6104.
