A pretty decent double-bill of indie pop rock tonight at the Artful Dodger. I’m not sure who will be doing back-up honours and who will be headlining, but the bands are Regina’s own Rah Rah and Plants and Animals out of Montreal. Rah Rah’s pretty much a known quantity in Regina, so here’s here’s the video for “Lightshow” off Plants and Animals’ 2012 album The End of That.
Also on tonight, there’s a joint Vertigo Reading Series/Thursday Night Live event at the MacKenzie Art Gallery. According to organizers, there will be an open stage for writers and musicians. There will also be a host band, the Local Onlyz, that poets and musicians can jam with if they want. As well, the gallery has invited two local spoken word artists — InfoRed and Tara Dawn Solheim — to create and debut a new work in response to the Carl Beam exhibition that’s on at the gallery until Nov. 18. Things get going at 7:30 p.m., and there’s a $5 admission fee along with a cash bar.
