Got an e-mail about this from an enthusiastic reader who works at the University of Regina so when I was out with my dad this afternoon I stopped by to take a look.
It had been sculpted from the snow on Friday and I think the warmish conditions both yesterday and today had taken a bit of a toll. But it’s still a neat idea.
The sculpture was done to publicize the inaugural Meet and Greet on Nov. 16 for a new Paleontology Club that’s been established at the university. Paleontology is the study of prehistoric life. And the sculpture is designed to resemble the fossilized remains of a giant dinosaur called a Mosasaur. You can read more about it after the jump.
