The title of the video might be “Dear Santa (silly pug dog)”, but the little animal in question seems to have a bit of melancholy. In a subtitle letter he’s writing to Saint Nicholas, the pug talks about how he doesn’t want to take a bath or be touched with a lizard, neither of which seem particularly silly. It’s also hard not to read “I want everyday to be like yesterday” without assuming that the pug knows this can’t happen. This silly pug has learned of his mortality, and desperately wants nothing more than to forget that lesson.
I’m sorry, Max the Pug — you’ll have to learn to live with that knowledge.
