Current Occupation: Employee City of Regina, Engineer Assistant III
Voter Information: www.reginamayor.info
Tim Siekawitch began his employment with the City of Regina, Saskatchewan in the Parks Department. Working his way up he was the City’s Equipment Coordinator managing millions of dollars worth of trucks, loaders and even lawnmowers. Moving ever ahead at work he was elected twice as a Union Executive Member and eventually moved to Engineer Assistant. Siekawitch is a certified Union Councilor, a commindated Dept. of Justice drug and alcohol councilor, a community volunteer legal professional, a volunteer to the music and arts societies, a songwriter, artist, and the list seems to go on and on and on. He is most fond of his international reputation in the small arena of professionals known as audio mastering engineers, and of the assistance he has freely given to Sterling Sound in New York and to others in this specialized field. Politically astute and aware of the change to the world’s character brought on by despair caused by financial mismanagement Siekawitch will restore and instill new freedoms in Regina, severing the City from the old boy’s networks and implementing 100% transparency to City Hall.
QUESTION AND ANSWER
1. Briefly, why are you running for mayor?
Rather than allowing Regina to get into a debt load that could never be paid back I as mayor would order a thorough forensic audit of all the books. Upon completion of the audit the taxpayers would learn exactly how much is in the bank and how much is owed, Via plebiscites thereafter the citizens of Regina would instruct city hall how to proceed forward with construction projects etc. Ongoing and parallel to this is the need for low cost housing in Regina. That is a dire issue that cannot be put aside until later.
2. What is the single most pressing issue facing Regina? How would you solve it?
Debt. A forensic financial audit.
3. Beyond immediate concerns like housing, the stadium and infrastructure renewal, what “big idea” project do you want to work on that nobody seems to be talking about?
Rent Control Bylaw..not actually a big idea but an essential initiative for residents of Regina.
4. Name something the last council got right.
