QUESTION AND ANSWER
1. Briefly, why are you running for council?
With all my past experience I have a lot to
offer to make Regina a safe, sustainable, and healthy environment. I am at a good time in my
life that as a woman I can serve the citizens in Ward with energy and an understanding of the
issues.
2. What is the single most pressing issue facing Regina? How would you solve it?
Affordable, low income housing. I would lobby the Provincial and Federal Government to take
more action. Stop demolishing rental units, get after landlords to clean up properties and
discourage leaving properties vacant. Always support the NGO’s that help the homeless and
underprivileged.
3. Imagine the Regina Of The Future that you want to help build. What will it look like?
A safe, healthy and sustainable, city. Homelessness has been eradicated, there are many bicycles being
used with their own bike lane. Urban sprawl has been controlled. Downtown is thriving with a
new grocery store. Heritage community is the new entertainment, shopping, small business, safe
place where families want to live.
4. Beyond immediate concerns like housing, the stadium and infrastructure renewal, what “big idea” project do you want to work on that nobody seems to be talking about?
Make City Hall an example of environmental sustainability. Install solar panels, use tanks to
collect water for watering the plants on boulevards etc. Plant edible crops in place of flowers. Be
a champion of green innovations.
5. Name something the last council got right.
Design Regina workshops and exploring other options for making the City a better designed city.
6. Now, point out their biggest mistake.
Building new communities that cater to big box stores with no thought to the sustainability,
health of the community or environment. How is it walkable, community oriented, and good for
small businesses? A missed opportunity to build mixed housing community. There are no
schools, no small businesses, no community centers.
7. What are you reading these days?
Briarpatch magazine, The Prairie Dog, and always a novel from the RPL
8. Beyond your residence, do you own any property in Regina or in the immediate area?
Yes. Besides owning our own home we own another house across the street from us and one a few
blocks away in North Central.
