I was born and raised in Lloydminster. I moved to Regina in 2010 with my wife, Andrea. I am a rabid sports fan (Riders, Oilers, Jays, Raptors, Patriots). I dedicate a lot of time to the Arts, primarily with Regina Lyric Musical Theatre. I started performing with the group in 2010, and have recently become a board member. I am employed by Koodo Mobile, a company that I’ve been with for nearly 4 years.

QUESTION AND ANSWER

1. Briefly, why are you running for council?
I want to give back to my community. Since moving to Regina, my wife and I have been afforded some great opportunities. This is where we are going to raise our family, and I want to have a hand in shaping the future of the city.

2. What is the single most pressing issue facing Regina? How would you solve it?
INFRASTRUCTURE. We having aging roads and aging pipes under these road. We need to repair the pipes first, and then fix the roads. Doing it the other way around would be a waste of money. As well, with our growing city, we need to balance the prioritization of new infrastructure, with the existing infrastructure.

3. Imagine the Regina Of The Future that you want to help build. What will it look like?
One Word: “Monorail”… But seriously, we need to keep this city growing. Within 20 years, I have several goals for the city: Build the stadium as laid out in the RRI, increase city population to over 225,000 people, rejuvenate the arts community with assistance from the provincial government, and host a world class sporting event.

4. Beyond immediate concerns like housing, the stadium and infrastructure renewal, what “big idea” project do you want to work on that nobody seems to be talking about?
The RRI is already big enough of a project, I don’t think another “big idea” is needed right now. However, one thing that nobody else seems to want to talk about is Taxes. I think it would be in the best interest of the city if there was an incremental increase in taxes, over and above what has already been discussed

5. Name something the last council got right.
Getting the ball rolling for the RRI.

6. Now, point out their biggest mistake.
Not focusing on improving infrastructure at an earlier date.

7. What are you reading these days?
Haven’t had time to read the past two months, besides online news articles.

8. Beyond your residence, do you own any property in Regina or in the immediate area?

What makes you a strong leader?
I am able to get buy-in from the people that I work with. I make decisions based on the consensus, rather than solely based on my own opinion. I understand that the most important part of any conversation is being able to truly listen. I bring a positive energy to every relationship that I develop, and I hope to do the same with the City of Regina.
