For one of our old Back to School features, Emmet Matheson said Modern Superstitions “mixes the female-fronted edginess of the Heartless Bastards and the Kills with the new wave aesthetics of the Talking Heads and Dexy’s Midnight Runners.” When I reviewed their debut EP, All the Things We’ve Been Told, I didn’t get much beyond calling the Toronto some of the best bouncey good time music Canada’s got.
All in all, prairie dog loved that EP. Sounds like they’re winding up to hit another home run. Above, you can hear “Bad Habit”, the first cut from Modern Superstitions’ first full-length. The self-titled album comes out October 23 on Last Gang Records.
