CBC says everyone’s favourite troubled development, Capital Pointe, has run into a new problem:
An administration report going to Regina city councillors today says although council previously approved the project, the company’s development permit has expired.
That means the firm will have to go back to both the planning commission and city council to have the project “re-approved.”
In the meantime, there are still people who have bought the condos that are supposed to be going up on this empty lot with still nothing to show for it. An old friend of mine was even interviewed about it for CJME. “I thought I’d have a home by now,” she told them at the time. And that was back at the start of July.
In the meantime, my new neighbours, the Gardens on Rose, seem to be progressing nicely. Their logo no longer resembles that of Guns N’ Roses, the building itself is going up quickly and, living next door, I can attest that some of the construction workers are in such a good mood that I can occasionally hear them singing “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”.
This is how condo developments should go. Come up with a nice design, find an empty, downtown lot to stick the place and built it on time.
