This 2011 Canadian film is based on the true story of Edwin Alonzo Boyd, a WWII veteran who turned to bank robbing after the war ended to support himself and his family. Arrested twice, Boyd broke out of jail both times and resumed his life of crime, becoming something of a folk hero — although it should be noted that he and his gang were responsible for the death of one Toronto policeman and weren’t shy about engaging in gun fights with authorities.
