The winners for the 2012 Canadian Comedy Awards have been announced. That’s right — your reigning kings and queen of Canadian comedy for the next year are taking their thrones as we speak.

There are a lot of funny, talented people on that list, including a whole bunch of folks us Regina residents have had the opportunity to see in the flesh in our own city. And none of them had great security, so you could have rushed the stage and touched that flesh if you really wanted.

Who were some of these people? Graham Clark was in town doing stand-up for the first Pile O Funny Bones Festival. His show, Stop Podcasting Yourself, with co-host Dave Shumka, rightfully won Best Podcast. Vancouver’s the Sunday Service were in town for the last General Fools Festival and they won Best Improv Troupe. As well, Peter Oldring and Pat Kelly performed at a previous General Fools Festival. Their CBC radio show, This Is That, won Best Radio Program or Clip.

Who says we can’t have nice things around here?
