In a Facebook update posted to Wascana Review‘s page a little over half an hour ago, general editor Kathleen Wall writes:

The English Department of the University of Regina has decided to discontinue publication of Wascana Review. As you can imagine, ending a publication with a 45-year history was a difficult decision. We have come to this conclusion based on the Department’s current circumstances, which reflect what is happening in the humanities and in faculties of arts across the country.

The update has a fuller explanation of why this has happened. Whenever writers lose an outlet, it’s always a sad day. It’s even sadder when said outlet has a long history in our city. If you go to their website, you can still read the last three issues of Wascana Review.
