Yes, this is an off-shoot of the notorious American punk band that’s been around since 1984. It features Buzz Osborne on guitars and vocals, Dale Crover on drums and Trevor Dunn (in place of Jared Warren) on bass. The trio is considered “Lite”, I guess, because unlike the Melvins proper, there’s only one drummer. In June, the band released an album called Freak Puke.
Tonight, Melvins Lite are in town to play a show at the Exchange with Retox. To give you a taste, here’s video from last year of the band performing a club gig in California (included is a mini-cover of the McCartney & Wings tune “Let Me Roll It”).
