No pick-of-the-day today. Instead, I’m going to provide everyone with a heads up about the looming deadline for registering for this year’s Living Pictures Competition which will be held Aug. 21 in Victoria Park. Living Pictures is sponsored by the Dunlop Art Gallery, and involves participants re-creating famous art works, photographs or film stills as living tableaux.
Here’s a link to a post on last year’s competition, which had a category tied to Dr. Seuss. This year, one of the categories involves the films of Tim Burton (pictured). With such classics as Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Alice in Wonderland and The Nightmare Before Christmas to his credit, there should be plenty of visual inspiration for competitors.
Registration deadline is August 7. Registration forms are available at the Dunlop Art Gallery or by contacting Wendy Peart, Curator of Education and Community Outreach, at wpeart@ureginalibrary.ca or 777-6044. And did I mention that there’s prizes in the form of gift certificates for winning entries?
