In addition to an appearance by a noted rockabilly legend (more on that tomorrow), Regina’s music stages will be graced Thursday night by two shows involving female-fronted bands. Here’s a breakdown.
At Creative City Centre, there’s a show by Malika Sellami (pictured). Although based in Saskatoon, she’s a bit of a musical nomad, and her music has been described as having French, Spanish and English influences. To give you a taste, here’s video of her performing her song “Love is a Splinter in My Heart”.
Also on the bill will be the Manitoba trio The Sweet Alibi. They have kind of a country folk vibe going on, and will be preceded to the stage by Regina’s own Belle Plaine. Here’s video of the Sweet Alibis performing their song “Pick Me Up”. Doors are at 8 p.m., and tickets are $10.
At Artesian on 13th, local singer-songwriter Kerri Senkow is holding a CD release. Doors are at 8 p.m., and tickets are $12 adv. and $15 door. Here’s video from a few years ago of Kerri performing her song “Not to Blame”.
