According to her official bio, Elizabeth Shepherd’s parents were ministers in the Salvation Army. That gave her an early exposure to brass instruments that she later augmented with explorations into to classical, house, disco and hip hop music.
Shepherd has a degree in jazz piano from McGill University, and for several years now has performed with Scott Kemp (bass) and Colin Kingsmore (drums).
Tonight at 8p.m., the Elizabeth Shepherd Trio are playing a show at Artesian on 13th (tickets $20 adv., $25 door).
