Last spring, if you recall, a surprise candidate emerged to announce their intention to run for Mayor of Regina in the 2012 municipal election.

Miffed that in the wake of the announcement today that Pat Fiacco would not be seeking a fifth term as mayor, they hadn’t been mentioned in media reports about possible contenders to replace him, the candidate contacted prairie dog to set the record straight.

“I’ve been working hard over the last few months, going driveway to driveway, knocking on garage doors and listening to what voters have to say,” the candidate said in an email. “The bulk of the platform that I announced with much fanfare last April is still in place, but based on all the great conversations I’ve had in farflung neighbourhoods across Regina in the last while I expect to have some exciting new initiatives to announce in the next few weeks. So stay tuned!”
