Not everyone’s cup of tea, granted. But the type of arena rock that TOAD (pictured) and its contemporaries like Nickelback and Hedley play does have its constituency of fans.
Tonight, TOAD is playing at Conexus Arts Centre. The show gets going at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25- $37.50.

Also on tonight is an event at the Saskatchewan Science Centre called Blown Away: An Evening With Storm Chasers. As I posted earlier, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the 1912 Regina Tornado. To provide their own insight into severe weather George Kourounis (Host of the Discovery Channel’s Angry Planet), Greg Johnson (a Regina-based tornado hunter and photographer) and Mark Robinson (a meteorologist at The Weather Network) will share some fascinating anecdotes and images of severe weather at the Imax Theatre. Doors are at 6:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 7 p.m., and admission is free. For more info call 791-7917.
And at 1 p.m. today, representatives of New Dance Horizons, the Dunlop and MacKenzie Art Galleries and the Science Centre will be at the centre to launch the Tornado Project which will consist of a series of events held over the next few months looking at the relationship between art, science, history and community. The launch will include a short dance performance by NDH’s Robin Poitras and visiting artist Margie Gillis.
