They announced it on their Twitter account yesterday morning, but we all know nothing’s official until the press release comes out. I got the e-mail this morning, so it’s set in stone: the Sheepdogs’ album Learn and Burn has gone gold in Canada.
You might remember the Saskatoon band as the winners of a contest that put them on the cover of Rolling Stone. (Or from the ensuing mini-controversy about the accompanying article.)
Well, now they’ve sold at least 40,000 copies of an album that, as the press release points out, they recorded themselves. Not too shabby.
