Both exhibitions are up and running now, I believe, but tonight the Dunlop Art Gallery and Neutral Ground Contemporary Art Forum are hosting a joint opening that will feature talks by J.J. Kegan McFadden, the Winnipeg-based director of Platform Centre for Photographic & Digital Arts who curated both shows.
At 7 p.m., McFadden will offer a gallery tour of As the Sidewalk Bleeds at the Dunlop. According to advance publicity, the show features work by seven Canadian artists who repurpose digital technologies to comment on the impact of media in our lives. From there, people will be invited to move to Neutral Ground (1856 Scarth), where McFadden will give a tour of Cabin Fever. That show features work by six artists, and explores the psychology of boredom and fulfillment in modern consumer culture.
Both exhibitions run until Dec. 8.
