TSN is reporting that Rider head coach and vice-president of football operations Ken Miller (pictured) will retire at the end of the current football season. Having just turned 70, it’s no surprise that Miller would not want to patrol the sidelines for the Riders next season. Being a head coach in pro sports is a physically and mentally exhausting task that encompasses far more than just the six-month football season.
And after this year’s experience, where his ongoing presence in the organization at the executive level caused new head coach Greg Marshall all sorts of grief as players were constantly reminded of Miller’s past relationship with them as their coach, it’s surely best that if the Riders are serious about building for the future that he step down from his executive position too.
