Tomorrow night at Creative City Centre (1843 Hamilton), three musicians — Nigel Taylor, Kory Gibbs and Eric Powell — will present a concert that explores the intersection between acoustic and digital in music performance. Of the three, the only one I know personally is Taylor (pictured at left). He’s a former trumpet player with the Regina Symphony Orchestra who is now based out of Boston. When he lived in Regina, he also played with jazz/funk groups like the Nancy Ray-Guns and Oye!

According to the Creative City website, Powell is a composer and sound artist with a MFA from Simon Fraser University. At this gig, he’ll be performing what’s billed as the world’s first work for bassoon and breathalizer. Gibbs, meanwhile, is on the faculty at the University of Regina’s Department of Fine Arts, where he teaches percussion.

Admission is by donation, and the concert is at 8 p.m.
