If you’re in the vicinity of the airport, keep an eye out for the new sculpture that’s just been installed on the road into the city near the intersection of Regina Ave. and the Lewvan. It was commissioned in 2009, and after a national competition, the design by Canadian artists Jyhling Lee (Saskatoon) and Paul Raff (Toronto) was the winner.
The sculture is called “Gateway to Regina”, and it consists of a series of monoliths set at different angles, so that the shadows they cast will vary from very short in the summer to quite long in the winter when the sun is low against the horizon.
In its press release, the city said that additional landscaping is planned in the area to complement the artwork
