I don’t have a ton of details on this event, but if you drop by the MacKenzie Art Gallery tonight at 7:30 p.m., you’ll have an opportunity to join with members of the Saskatchewan Filmpool to make a short movie using the installation Ballet by the Szuper Gallery as a film set.
The installation itself explores the role of rural and urban society in the production, distribution and consumption of food. I don’t know if the film that’s being planned will address a similar theme, but with live music and refreshments also part of the mix it should be fun. Admission is $10, or $7 for gallery members.
And you might want to mark Aug. 21 on your calendar too. On that day at 2 p.m., the MacKenzie Gallery will host a free screening of another film that very definitely does have a food theme. It’s generally acclaimed as a classic, so you won’t want to miss it. Here’s the trailer.
