HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAYLEE June 2 is the birthday of my favourite ‘bad movie’ actor, (as opposed to ‘bad’ movie actor) Jewel Staite (Kaylee Frye, the ship’s engineer on Firefly) who’s been in a few straight-to-video releases and TV shows that died early (Wonderfalls), and a couple of years as a regular on Stargate Atlantis since. Not that she seems to care: she has a cooking/restaurant review blog (Happy Opu) that I swear one can gain 10 kilograms from merely reading it. Next time she has an open call for questions for her Blastr blog posts, I have one: what would she do if the aliens from Galaxy Quest (Wikipedia) kidnapped you and asked you to fix their spaceship?
YOUR CAREER COULD BE WORSE, JEWEL You could have been involved in that God-awful Wonder Woman pilot. (Topless Robot)

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD KIDNEY PUNCH ANYBODY TALKING ABOUT ECONOMIC RECOVERY 10 year wage gains from 2001 to 2011 are worse than they were from 1929 to 1939 (Investors.com)
AND SMACK THEM UPSIDE ON THE HEAD ABOUT THE WAR ON (SSOME PEOPLE WITH SOME) DRUGS A high-powered panel of former national leaders and UN representatives says the ‘War On Drugs’ has been a massive failure. (The Telegraph) Harper’s response? Shut up, we have jails to fill. (Globe And Mail)
DOES ANYBODY KINOW WHAT CANADA’S FOREIGN POLICY IS REGARDS TO ISRAEL, PALESTINE, AND THE 1967 BORDERS? Anyone? (Globe and Mail) Anyone? (Embassy) Bueller?
AND NOW, YOUR MOMENT OF ZEN My earworm of the week: Guster, ‘Architects and Engineers’
