Vancouver Canucks defenceman Aaron Rome’s season is over but unlike Nathan Horton he won’t be spending the summer recovering from a concussion. The National Hockey League suspended Rome for four games after he illegally clobbered Horton at the blue line with a late hit in last night’s 8-1 Boston win over Vancouver.
From the CBC:
“Two factors were considered in reaching this decision,” NHL senior vice-president of hockey operations Mike Murphy said in a statement. “The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury.”
I am okay with this. It was an ugly hit.
