This animated film by Sylvain Chomet is based on an unproduced 1956 script by Jacques Tati that tells the story of a  hard-luck magician in a magenta suit who travels from show to show with his rabbit, his top hat, his three-legged table. In Scotland, he meets a poor young woman who persuades him to visit Edinburgh where he lodges with other performers with ties to the vaudeville era.

The Illusionist screens tonight at the RPL Theatre at 9:15 p.m. Here’s Jorge’s (Web exclusive!) review! And here’s the trailer.
