Thirty or so years ago I would’ve made a huge effort to get tickets to this two-night stand by Elton John at Brandt Centre May 11-12.
I’m sure it’s still going to be a great show. But when I was in high school in the mid-70s I listened to Elton John a lot. Madman Across the Water, Don’t Shoot the Piano Player, Goodbye Yellowbrick Road, Captain Fantastic & the Brown Dirt Cowboy … man, some great albums.
After Rock of the Westies though (album cover at left), I kind of lost interest and drifted in a different musical direction. But if you remain a loyal fan and you’re going to one of the gigs, I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
To close, here’s vintage footage of John from 1976 doing “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”.
