Black Drink Crier is fronted by Cam Wensel, a veteran on the Regina music scene who prior to this country roots project was in the celtic punk band Westport Murders.

Tonight at the German Club (1727 St. John), Wensel is releasing an EP called Porch Fire. As you can see from the EP’s cover, Wensel is being assisted by the Lazy MKs who recently released a CD of their own (Where We Bin) at the Artesian.

Containing six wistfully romantic and rollickingly gothic (in a prairie sense) songs, Porch Fire was released by local label Harvest King Records. I’ve given it a few spins, and hope to review it for our June 2 issue. Tonight, though, you’ll have the chance to see the songs performed live.

The show kicks off at 10 p.m. with a set by the Wildmen, followed by Black Drink Crier.

If you’ve been to O’Hanlon’s Pub in the last few days, you’ll known that the live music room is undergoing renovations. It’s made what was already an intimate space even more intimate. But the bar is still putting on shows. Tonight,  Saskatoon blues-rocker Jordan Cook is there.
