If you haven’t been downtown lately, here’s a couple of shots taken this morning of 12th Ave. next to Victoria Park where work continues on the new City Square. Spring was a little late in arriving, but the last month or so hasn’t been atrocious weatherwise, and a fair bit of work has been done.

Thus far, there’s been no word from the city as to when the project might be completed. The Regina Folk Festival runs Aug. 5-7 this year, and the city dearly wants construction to be done by then. As well, the outdoor Regina Farmers’ Market is now open. Like last year, the market is currently located on McIntyre and Smith St. beside City Hall. Once City Square is done, I believe the plan is for the market, which has added a number of vendors in the last few years, to hold its bi-weekly sales on 18 block Scarth and the City Square area.

This photo is taken from the east boundary of the construction zone near the alley which runs between Scarth and Hamilton St. As you look west down 12th Ave, Victoria Park is to the left and the Scarth St. Mall is on the right.

The above photo is taken from the west boundary of the construction site on Lorne St. looking east back up 12th Ave.
