Big night for live music in Regina. At Artesian on 13th, local alt-country band The Lonesome Weekends are releasing their debut CD Songs for Lonesome Weekends. The CD came into our office a couple of weeks ago and has proved to be an enjoyable listen. The Rusty Augers will play an opening set, and the show tonight should get going around 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 adv., $15 door.
At the Performing Arts Centre there’s a hip hop showcase called Party ‘n’ the Hood. It’s being hosted by All Nations Healin’ Thru Artz and will feature Unknown Statik, Tacktikz, Pimpton and more. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5. For more info call 205-7333.
At the Exchange, it’s a solid double-bill with Del Barber and Jenn Grant (pictured below). Barber was here in early March to play a show presented by Grassroots Regina, and Grant, who is touring in support of her new album Honeymoon Punch, has won acclaim for her catchy rootsy Maritime pop. To illustrate, here’s the video for Grant’s latest single “Getcha Good”. Tickets are $10.
At the Distrikt, local electro-groove band Intergalactic Virgin are holding a multi-release party with several different digital and vinyl recordings being dropped. Doors are at 9 p.m., and tickets are $5.
Finally, at O’Hanlon’s Pub it’s Regina ska-punk bands Indigo Joseph and Fur Eel.
