Two Canadian films are winding up weekend screenings at the RPL Theatre. Tonight at 7 p.m. it’s the cinematic adaptation of Mordecai Richler’s 1997 novel about an elderly TV producer stricken with Alzheimer’s named Barney Panoksky who looks back on the passionate excesses of his life.

Screening at 9:15 p.m. at the RPL is a sequel of sorts to an earlier film by Carl Bessai called Mothers & Daughters. Laden with humour, Fathers & Sons looks at a group of adult men and the relationships they enjoy (or don’t enjoy) with their fathers. I couldn’t find a trailer, but here’s an interview with the filmmaker.
