One of the interesting things that has come up in the fallout from the proposed St. Peter’s/Carlton Trail Regional College merger and subsequent investigation (Global Saskatoon) is the strange case of the Enterprise Club for Sask. Party members. For $10, you get a party membership, but for $1,000 you get … well, according to Brad Wall, it’s all on the up-and-up. You get to talk to Brad Wall, and others in the Sask. Party governance cirlce. But no, you don’t lobby. No siree. (CBC Saskatchewan)
And the fact that the proposed merger was fast-tracked just after the CEO of the Carlton Trail Regional College (who is also president of St. Peter’s College) bought an Enterprise Club membership? (Star-Phoenix) With the college’s funds? Just a coincidence. Nothing to see here. Move on.
In a society that has strip clubs, $10 is a cover charge. $1,000 gets you the Champagne Room. (Urban Dictionary) And you can do a lot more in the Champagne Room than in the rest of the club. Spend enough money in there, and the owners aren’t too worried about enforcing the no-touch rule.
