The Green Party of Canada have a new commercial up and it’s pretty good. The short spot criticizes attack ads, which are a little tiresome (although given the political party running this country right now, inevitable on all sides). I’ll post the ad, then point out the problem.
Sooo. The problem. When you embed YouTube videos, there’s an option called “include related videos”. I usually don’t check this box when I embed videos because it can lead to weirdness (then again maybe I should because hey! It could lead to fun weirdness!).
I’m thinking the Green party’s Web people don’t know about this and they had the box checked, because on my desktop, as soon as the Green ad ended, I had the option to watch this violent and a little bit gory clip from what looks like a cool Korean genre movie starring cool Korean actor Song Kang-ho (Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, The Host):
(Warning: clip is very violent and a little bit gory)
Maybe this is some kind of meta-message about the violence inherent to political attack ads? Maybe it’s a quirk of my computer’s browser cache? Maybe the Green Party are kind of a bunch of buffoons? I don’t know. Is anyone else getting this clip after watching the commercial on the Green Party’s Web site?
But I do know the bloody, violent thriller looks pretty darn cool!
