Tons of U.S. College football on today, plus some NHL and World Junior hockey. But if you feel like getting out for some fresh air, and are open to the idea of heading downtown, you can check out this 2010 UK romantic comedy at the RPL Theatre.
It’s based on a graphic novel by Posy Simmonds, which was itself inspired by Thomas Hardy’s 1874 novel Far From the Maddening Crowd, and stars former Bond girl Gemma Arterton as a young woman who returns to the country village she grew up in, where she proceeds to wow the locals with her extreme hotness.
As you can likely tell from the poster, this is a modern version of Hardy’s tale. It’s directed by Stephen Frears, and screens at the RPL today at 7 p.m. and tomorrow at 4 p.m. Here’s the trailer.
