Here’s a link to James Brotheridge’s Jan. 13 cover story on tonight’s show by Sarah Harmer that the Regina Folk Festival is presenting as part of its Concert Series.
Backing Harmer up is an icon of the Toronto music scene Gentleman Reg. The show’s at Darke Hall, which is always a treat, and starts at 8 p.m.
Here’s the video for Harmer’s song “Captive” off her 2010 album Oh Little Fire. And here’s the video for Gentleman Reg’s song “We’re in a Thuderstorm” from the album Jet Black.
Also on tonight is Stars of the Stratford Festival. This is a fundraiser for Golden Apple Theatre, and features Stratford veterans Chilina Kennedy and Paul Nolan (pictured at right in West Side Story). Songs Nolan and Kennedy will be performing include “One Hand One Heart”‘ from West Side Story, “Being Alive”‘ from Company and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from Jesus Christ Superstar. It’s at the Royal Sask Museum. There’s a reception at 7 p.m., followed by the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50, and more info can be found at: www.goldenappletheatre.com
