The Canadian Soccer Association is preparing its bid for the 2015 Women’s World Cup of Soccer, which stands to be the biggest event in FIFA’s calendar next to the World Cup itself.
According to Goal! magazine, seven Canadian cities have expressed interest in hosting some of the games: Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Moncton.
One city that hasn’t expressed interest? Hint: it’s between Grand Coulee and Balgonie.
Given that the proposed stadium is going to need as many paying dates as possible in order to keep its operating budget from running into the red, it’s pretty inexplicable that nobody in Regina appears interested in hosting part of this tournament, unless the Regina Economic Development Authority is asleep at the switch
