This is actually happening tomorrow night. But I’m going to cheat a bit and mention it today because it is Monday, and the day after Hallowe’en, and to put it bluntly, not a heck of a lot else is happening today.
I’m no expert on The Eagles, but I believe prior to releasing Hotel California in 1977 they’d primarily been regarded as a country band. With this album, they achieved significant cross-over success and became a staple of rock radio.
If you delve into the lyrics, Hotel California is very much an concept album, musically chronicling the band’s immersion into a hedonistic sex and drugs lifestyle as their popularity grew.
Tomorrow at Conexus Arts Centre at 8 p.m., tribute will be paid to that album via a audio-visual spectacular. If we haven’t already, we’ll be contesting tix on Facebook. Ducats otherwise cost $52.50.
To get you in the mood to travel back in time, here’s The Eagles performing the title track live.
