Overall, I wouldn’t describe myself as a huge Monty Python fan. I like them well enough, I’m just not as slavish in my devotion as some people (I was going to link here to an article by Stephen LaRose that was supposed to run in our Nov. 18 issue, but it unfortunately got spiked for lack of space).
Monty Python & the Holy Grail, though, is very definitely a classic. You can argue over which of the parodies is better — this 1975 Arthurian one, or the Christian one Life of Brian in 1979. But both are hugely entertaining.
Spamalot is a Tony Award-winning musical inspired by Holy Grail. It’s playing at Conexus Arts Centre tonight at 7:30 p.m. (Tix are $49.50, $59.50, $69.50.) To close, here’s a performance of “Find Your Grail” from the 2005 Tony Awards.
