Preseason prognosticators who picked the Pats to perform poorly have so far proven to be pretty prescient.

Things don’t get any easier for the Pats either. After this game tonight at Brandt Centre they head out on their annual west coast road trip where they play something like eight games in seven days. Okay, I’m exaggerating. But they do play a lot of games. And they do have to do a fair bit of winter bus travel.

Last couple of years this tilt would’ve been a mismatch. But Brandon’s struggling this year too. I think the Wheaties were reasonably highly rated heading into the season so I don’t know if they’ve got some injuries, they’re just off to a slow start, or maybe, like the Pats, they’re just not a good hockey team at present.

Which isn’t to say the Pats haven’t played some good hockey this year. They have. And they have the potential to get better. This next stretch will be a test, though.

Game time is 7 p.m. Adults $17, Senior $14, Student & Disabled $8. 543-7800.
