Got a couple of local bands rockin’ out at O’Hanlon’s Pub tonight. Bright Black (pictured) is pretty new on the scene , I think. In fact, according a bit of digging I did on the Internet, the band played its first gig ever at Mercury Cafe on Oct. 1 backing up The Falklands. Led by Jonah Kreiser, though, ex of Ghosts of Modern Man, and including another guy who used to play in Geronimo, Bright Black have plenty of stage experience with other bands.

The Jump Off have a bit longer pedigree. I caught them at a gig last December at O’Hanlon’s where they backed up Royal Red Brigade.. They describe themselves as dance punk. And here’s video of them performing their song “Cobra Commander”.
